The penultimate sterling silver Florin, it was struck at the Royal Mint in 1918 during the reign of King George V. He was King of Great Britain from May 6, 1910 until his death on January 20, 1936. George was the grandson of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and the first cousin of both Czar Nicholas II of Russia and Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany. Ironically, he was King during World War I when he and his cousin Nicholas fought and defeated Kaiser Wilhelm. It cost Nicholas his life and his other cousin Wilhelm, his "Empire."
