The coin depicts the Aswan High Dam with the Nile flowing and the sun rising behind the structure and commemorates the fact that on May 15, 1964 the dam structure resulted in the diversion of the flow of the Nile River, a major historic feat. The coin is labeled (Al Gomhouriah al-Arabiah al-Mutahida) United Arab Republic as opposed to Arab Republic of Egypt. The coin was minted when Egypt and Syria where united into a confederation. It is KM-406 and weighs 10 grams of 0.72 silver. It measures approximately 29 mm in diameter. This coin is rather scarce with a low mintage of 250,000 pieces.
