DAS Heartland 2 Marble: Galactic Lutz

Description: DAS Heartland 2 MarbleGalactic Lutz MINTRun Date: May 2014 This DAS Heartlands 2 marble was a real tough one to photograph. The exposure was automatically changing on my camera without me doing anything, so apologies ahead of time. The dark photos are due to the flash not going off, but I thought they would add to the knowledge of getting familiar with the marble in any case. This is another clear-based marble has some amazing internal swirls and some external chunky gold lutz. Some lutz marble have a fine evenly spread mist of gold dust and others have huge rocks of gold lutz...this marble is the huge rocks and you can tell. This does give the marble some uneven surfaces, but it is completely normal for this type of chunky lutz marble. The cool thing about this particular marble is the way it resembles a galaxy far far away. If you study astronomy and things like black holes, super novas, superclusters and cosmic webs, then this one little gem has your name on it. It's unusual and I really like this one, so I think you will, too. This marble was made on the 3/4" marble machine and it measures 0.686" in diameter with a pair of electronic calipers. I use a Canon DSLR digital camera with built-in flash to show all the detail possible.
