In an aquarium, they should be kept in brackish water with a salinity of 1.0 to 1.2 and a pH of 7.5 to 8.0. Green spotted puffer fish are somewhat aggressive, especially as they mature. This Puffer is a long-lived species, and when properly cared for, can live for up to 20 years in captivity. The ideal water temperature for this fish is between 72–78° F.
