Description: This Cambridge Glass Co footed compote is made in a pattern called Inverted Strawberry. It is consider NEAR CUT and has that name stamped in the bottom of the bowl. It is an impressive 9.5" wide by 5.5" high and a perfect size for displaying fresh fruits, desserts or salads. Unlike fragile cut glass, this is heavy pressed glass that can be used without worrying so much about it being easily broken or chipped. The pedestal foot raises the bowl up to give it more importance on the table. It was made between 1904 and1920 and the pattern was so popular that Cambridge Glass made it in over 26 different glass pieces including pitchers, tumblers, sugar and creamer and many others. It is still as beautiful today as it was then. The deeply impressed strawberries are textured with a crisscross pattern and the small blooms look like tiny starbursts. It is in wonderful condition for the age and has no cracks or chips and there are very few tiny scratches on the glass. A beautiful piece of early American made glass that can be used and enjoyed.
