Description: Life Magazine Bound Issues for May + June 1957 Includes May, 13, 1957 Issue with article "Seeking the Magic Mushroom" (pp. 100-120) Hardcover. 10-3/4" x 14". Consists of 8 issues that had originally been received by a subscriber & later bound together. Overall in good condition. Binding firm & square; hinges sound. Hardcovers have light rubbing to edges & at corners; mild soiling & a few minor marks. End papers & pastedowns are age-toned; previous owner's stamp to front end paper; bookplates to front & rear pastedowns; binder's tag to rear pastedown with associated toning to end paper. May 13th issue is clean & unmarked. Mushroom article has a 1-inch tear to bottom edge of p. 101/102. Pages age-tanned around edges. Front cover clean with mailing label to lower left corner; mild rubbing & wear; a bit of sun-fading to top edge. Rear cover has been removed (which seems to be a binding choice, since other issues also are missing their rear covers). May 27th issue is moisture stained around bottom & lower side edges, which appears to have happened prior to binding (probably got wet when originally delivered). Other issues look in good to very good condition, with mild toning to page edges & light usage & wear. Overall, a solid, clean & desirable copy of the scarce May 13, 1957 issue. Ships well-packed in a box.
