Description: Mayo Methot (1904-1951) authentically signed typed letter, dated 1943. This letter is part of the collection of Eloise Coates, who founded the first Bogart fan club. The collection was first auctioned by RR Auctions, one of the premiere autograph auction houses, and then later by Bonham's, and this letter will be accompanied by a COPY of the RR Auctions Certificate of Authenticity that accompanied the collection. In the letter, Methot mentions "Bogie's" exploits rescuing other boats from high winds. (Bogart and Methot spent a lot of time on their boat "Sluggy.") She also mentions that Bogart bought her a speedboat for her birthday, and makes reference to "war-time regulations." In all, very nice Bogart content. Methot and Bogart had a tumultuous marriage, to say the least. This letter depicts the early happy days the couple shared. 8.5" x 11", Very Good condition, with usual mailing folds. I guarantee the authenticity of this autograph. I've been buying and selling autographs for 30 years, I was a feature writer for Autograph Collector Magazine in the 1990, and I've been selling on Ebay since 2001.
